AfriBridge Connect has been named the 1st prize winner in the prestigious Geneva Challenge 2025, a global competition recognizing innovative youth-led solutions to pressing development challenges. Ghana has chalked a historic global victory after a team of three young professionals operating under the name AfriBridge Connect emerged as winners of the 2025 Geneva Graduate Challenge.
It is the first time a Ghanaian team, has won the prestigious competition since it began in 2014.
The contest, formerly known as the Advancing Development Goals Challenge, is hosted annually by the Geneva Graduate Institute. This year’s edition, focused on Migration, attracted 313 team applications involving 1,093 graduate students from 92 nationalities. Out of 114 qualifying projects, only five teams, one representing each continent, advanced to the final stage.
Designed by an interdisciplinary team from Ghana, AfriBridge Connect represents Africa’s digital vision for inclusive migration governance and cross-border opportunity.
Built as a bilingual (English–French), mobile-first platform, AfriBridge Connect enables skilled African youth to verify credentials, overcome language barriers, and access employment opportunities across borders. The platform combines AI-powered translation, blockchain-secured credential recognition, and voice-accessible onboarding, ensuring that even low-literate or visually impaired migrants can participate fully in Africa’s labor market.
Speaking on the recognition, Project Lead Abigail Osei Owusu noted:
“This isn’t just a tech innovation it’s a bridge between talent and opportunity. Being the only African team among the finalists validates the importance of building solutions that reflect Africa’s realities.”
